🧭 House Homeland Security Committee Asks Anthropic's CEO to Testify Over Claude Code Espionage Campaign

The House Homeland Security Committee sent letters today to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, and Quantum Xchange CEO Eddy Zervigon, asking each to testify at a joint subcommittee hearing on AI and cybersecurity next month. The request follows Anthropic's disclosure two weeks ago that it disrupted a Chinese state-linked group, designated GTG-1002, which had jailbroken Claude Code and used it to automate an estimated 80–90% of a multi-stage cyber-espionage campaign against roughly 30 organizations — including large tech firms, financial institutions, and government agencies — before Anthropic detected and blocked it.

Why lawmakers are involved

Committee leaders framed the incident as an early look at how a capable, state-sponsored actor can turn a commercially available AI system into an "operational force multiplier" for espionage — accelerating timelines and reducing the resources a sophisticated campaign requires, even against a provider that responded quickly once it noticed the misuse. Executives have until December 3 to confirm whether they will appear.

🧭 Claude App Conversations Get "Infinite Chats" — No More Context-Limit Walls

Separately this week, Anthropic rolled out Infinite Chats for the Claude app. Previously, a long-running conversation would eventually hit its context window limit and stop cold, forcing users to start a fresh chat and lose earlier context. Now, as a conversation approaches that limit, Claude automatically summarizes the earlier portions to free up room and keeps going — available to users on paid plans.
